House's of Parliament Trip
13/01/2025
We took your elected School Councillors to visit the Houses of Parliament in London this week. The councillors from Holy Family also joined us which was a wonderful way for them to meet and make new friends, whilst enjoying this experience. They were shown around the Palace by their guide, who explained lots about the history of the castle and the past and present members of parliament. They also got to enter through the King's own private entrance! We, unfortunately, weren't allowed to take any photos of this or any areas inside Parliament except in Westminster Hall.
The children were shown a video all about the Story of Parliament, how it started and how it has shaped our country, to how it is run today. This also included the struggles that women faced and how they didn't give up on making sure ALL women were seen, heard and valued! The children then enjoyed food at Pizza Express, some sight seeing, including a walk down the Mall towards Buckingham Palace and a little souvenir shopping.
It was a very long day but all the children were amazingly well behaved and made us so proud! Thank you Councillors!
