Welcome to Year 5's Class Page

Year 5 is a fun and exiting year with much to look forward to. We are thrilled to welcome the children back to school ready for a fantastic year ahead . This term we will be focusing on making sure children feel safe, happy and ready to thrive in a new year.

Here, you will find all the information you need to know about what we will be doing in Year 5 this term. So keep looking online to get weekly updates

English Debate - Discussion Text

Our Autumn 2 writing topic focuses on Discussion Texts. This week we have been exploring the features of a discussion text and looking at WAGOLL. As part of our build up to our writing, we had a debate. Our debate was based on whether or not Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory should be built in Middleton?

One team were FOR this and the other AGAINST. Each team had to think of points for their argument then debate them with each other. We had some great ideas and arguments.

Halloween Disco

Lots of fun was had by those who attended the Halloween Disco! We had some fantastic and creepy outfits from Year 5.

English Mystery Story

This term, we have been writing Mystery Stories based on our class text 'The Thieves of Ostia'. Once we wrote our stories we typed them up on the laptop. Take a look below at some examples of our fantastic but tense stories:

Science Trip to Magna

As part of our Science topic of Properties and Changing States, we visited Magna Science Museum. We participated in a workshop, where we investigated lots of different properties and how they can change states. Afterwards, we explored the museum and watch the 'Big Bang'. Take a look at what we got up to below:

Mount St. Mary's

Year 5 were lucky enough to be invited to Mount St. Mary's for an open morning. We explored 3 different lessons: Music, Languages and RE. We had a great morning learning lots of new information and taking part in lessons.

Collective Worship

We led our first Collective Worship in Assembly this term. As it is a beginning of a new term, we based our worship on 'New Beginnings'. We reflected on our goals and aspirations for this new year and how we could achieve them.
